He is a Lithuanian-born musician that now lives and performs in Florida. He doesn't know a lot of classic American music but people pay to request songs from him so he will listen for a minute on youtube and do his own version of it. Some of it is better than the originals.

Some highlights:

This one is purely instrumental and is his version of Tender Surrender When Someone Requests A Steve Vai Song

This one is also purely instrumental and is his cover of Bohemian Rhapsody When Someone Requests a Queen Song

His cover of Personal Jesus - Crowded Street Stops to Listen When Someone Requests Depeche Mode

Just some blues mix he and a band performed - Crowd Gives Standing Ovation After We Improvise This

His skills are damn impressive

I prefer Leo Moracchioli/Frog Leap Studios for covers.

I have seen some of his stuff. What he does is interesting but not in the same ballpark as this guy. His stuff is created in a studio and polished.

These aren't true covers. Just watch his "cover" of Tender Surrender and tell me it's not great. Also keep in mind he created it on the spot.

Actually stumbled across him 2 nights ago. He might not be musical savant level (I don’t know) but he has a talent and style that is really unique and awesome to watch and listen to.

I’ve watched several of his videos and thought they were cool. He’s very talented because a lot of what’s requested he has never heard before

I’ve been watching his stuff for a while. Definitely a talented guy but some of his latest stuff seems like it is definitely a fake setup.

I've been watching him for over a year now. He's extremely talented. But, I'm convinced that he either:

1. Completely stages the person asking him to play a song he already knows and has conviently never uploaded a cover of to YouTube.

Or

2. He knows how to play thousands of songs and is playing up his persona as if he doesn't know just waiting for someone to ask him a song he knows already.

He's very good and entertaining though and I haven't stopped watching yet.

Some of it so far off from the original that I don't see how anyone can think this and also keep in mind that there are people out there that can hear something one time and play it note for note. Charlie Puth has perfect pitch and can do that for example so it's not hard to fathom that Dovydas can make up something similar to an original on the spot.

If you like Mr Ballen then you must also watch Mike over at That Chapter If not, you are welcome in advance on your next Youtube addiction.

BTW, at first glance, Mr Ballen doesn't strike me as an ex-Navy Seal but he is.

Its neither of those things…

He’s just really really good at music theory. He can hear something once and play it back (or something close to it).

Really enjoyed his re-imagining of Simple Man

Yeah I thought I misheard the first time he said Seal

ETA Dude!!!!

I had listened to one of Mike's vids a while back, and couldn't remember what channel was called (finding Ballen in the process) but you nailed it.

You rock, Broheme.
