when I lived in Chicago back in the early 80s someone in nearby Wisconsin owned the original Bat Mobile and was selling it for $7500, this was right before the Batman movie craze started, I wanted it just because I thought it was cool, I always regret not buying it

I know it, that thing has changed hands a few times and every time it does someone will make sure I'm aware of it

ETA: my daughter met the guy who owns it now at a function for a non-profit she used to be involved with, he's got a lot of cool stuff like that and has sort of built a "museum" to hold them all

$150k for the original Cheers bar isn't that high really all things considered. If you would've said $1.5M I would've believed it.

You probably don’t need to regret much, since this line seems to refute your point or indicate the car was misrepresented, “It was the first time that car had come up for public sale since it was bought in 1965 by car-customiser George Barris for a nominal fee of $1.”

it was a set baw, there is a Cheers in Boston, a couple of them actually, the original one is known for having an awesome cheeseburger but not much to do with the show, and the other one is a tourist attraction near Fanueil Hall that's either closed down or about to be

There are still two weeks left in pre-bidding then the live auction is coming up. It will go way higher

don't know what "public sale" means, Bat Man nostalgia wasn't yet a thing back then, I saw an ad in the Chicago newspaper offering it for sale and it wasn't much more than a classified ad, I didn't go see it but the ad stated it was the one from the TV series

ETA: and I know I've seen where it has changed hands a time or two once the movies started
