Does anyone have stats on well vs poorly funded police departments?

I’ve seen a lot of talk about Funding for police departments having different causes of this issue. It varies from the following
Underfunded police departments can’t attract good prospects and therefore are forced to hire people who are likely never going to be good officers.
Overfunded police departments can become militarized and escalate tensions with the community
Overfunded departments are able to hire more capable applicants and weed out candidates who are unfit for the job.
Underfunded police departments are incapable of dealing with an overwhelming amount of crime in their jurisdictions.
Does anyone have any stats on how well PDs perform based on their funding? It feels like more and more you hear about police departments just having to straight up ignore more petty crimes because they don’t have the resources to deal with it. You also have issues with most of the above I just mentioned. Can we get into some statistical conversation and see if there’s a correlation amongst some of those factors?

Similar to schools the perceived quality of a police department will usually depend on the quality of people in the community they serve. Money doesnt matter so much.

I honestly don’t have an answer to your question, but I got my CCW permit right when Covid-19 started (timing was just a stroke of luck).
Went over the Bass Pro to pickup a little.380 pocket to toss in my pocket when walking with wife and dogs since everything else I had was full size....it was over a two hour wait in line and the shear majority I was waiting behind was didnu’s in there picking up ARs and pistol grip shotguns. It was shocking. Went home and told my wife we aren’t leaving the house anymore without being armed. All I can say is if what I saw is what police are up against I’m all for them fighting equal fire with equal fire.

So if a government agency is performing poorly we should give them more money so that they can do better?
I just want to make sure we establish a baseline so that we can apply this logic consistently.
