As someone that looks at 50 temps a day every day, it's perfectly fine. The majority of the temps i see are around 97.5 i have a hard time believeing in the 98.6 average.

Im a nurse I'm a Drs office and hear this same story about once per day. When I take it with my thermometer they try to justify that they are 98.6 because they have a fever. Maybe it's possible to have a normally low temp but out of thousands and thousands of patients I can't recall any. Maybe 98.1 is the lowest I usually see. A lot of people claim this but I'm sure it's thermometer malfunction more often than not.

Kids are sick.

Before I take theirs, a take mine to get an idea on how it's reading.

I checked mine on Sunday and it was 96.5 and my son's was 101.

I run hot...100 or so usually. Bp borderline but going down.

Weird thing is... I have to be doing work to actually sweat.

I attribute it to the fact that we dont run the heater during the winter.

I can sit in my boxers in a 40 degree room and dont even notice it.

That sounds normal for me. Doc says that my thyroid is kind of inactive. If you start putting on the pounds, you might want to see a doctor. Low metabolism causes your temp to run low.

ah, well mine is normally 98.6. I wasn't alarmed when she said it was lower, and she didn't act like it was a big deal. I was suprised when it was that low at home though.

She also said my BP was 100/70.

Did you take it under your arm? Supposed to add 1 degree to what the thermometer shows when you do that.

I work in an ER and take temps all day long. I'd say most average between 97.5-99.0. Yours is low. It could be the thermometer though. And if get a core temp (rectal), if you're concerned, it's more accurate.

this morning, mine was 97.8, then when I got to the doctor's office about two hours later, it was 98.4. She didn't say if being under was abnormal or not.

Your body temperature drops a few degrees while you sleep and it takes a few hours for it get back up to the normal temperature.
