Does anyone do metal working or knife making?

Do you have a 2 x 72 sander? What size motor do you use? I'm building one for my home garage and can't decide if I want to buy a 1.5HP or a 2HP.

ours in the machine shop is a 2 HP motor but might be overkill for a garage

That's what I assumed but I did't want to buy a 1.5 and then have to buy a 2 later on. I'm not going to be knife making. I'll be doing metal fabrication.

Love that show forged in fire makes it seem like blacksmithing is so easy

It's an art form, I know that just from learning how to manually sharpen drill bits and knives. That's only a small part of the process.
