They took a week off from school the week of the Washington Parish Free Fair.
It's pretty much a ladder on the societal rung of WP to have a camper at the fair. It starts on October 21st this year. Offshore baws that are gonna be at work will start hauling their campers in first of the month. I live a block over from the fair gates. Things start picking up for us the weekend before.

Bogalusa and its black hole of despair is a big factor keeping Washington Parish from being the natural progression of Northshore growth.
They’re just too far from the growth

I had a few dates with a girl from Bogalusa that was in college in Monroe back in the early 90's. I was fresh out of high school then and had no clue where the place was. She said no worries, you will smell it before you even get there. Always stuck with me because us yankees from Monroe hear that frequently about Bawcomville's paper mill. Her dad was chief of police there at the time if I recall.

In the mid-1950s, I had a paper route for the Bogalusa Daily News that took me by the Zesto. I would usually stop for one of those fabulous chili dogs.

The old lady running it is looking to retire; it won't be around too much longer unfortunately.
