the fact I can't walk in any pharmacy and pick this up off the shelf is sad.

I've had so many tramadol scripts wrote for me that I would just throw in the trash and not waste $4 to get it filled

Exactly, when I broke my ankle ffs the only thing the doctor prescribed was tramadol and 400mg Motrin. Its ridiculous how bad this epidemic has become.

shite has consequences. This poor bastard got killed. A CVS IN A frickING HOSPITAL got hit twice. In and out in 2-3 minutes. That's ballsy to go after a large facility with cameras and security all over the place. They hit the professional building after hours.

The Feds used a pound of prevention for an ounce of cure. Norco flowed freely for decades. Hardcore folks got oxy. Now you made norco=oxy and oxy is impossible.

The spigot just can't be cut off. Now you have

A. fricking heroin making a huge comeback.

B. Chinese fentanyl.

C. Multiple pharmacy break ins.

D. Robberies of pharmacies.

It is not gonna get better anytime soon.

people seeking these prescriptions are by far their biggest headache

I've been in practice for 15 years, throughout the opiate epidemic. You can spot these people by their actions (bc addiction comes in all shapes and sizes) and they ALL have a song and dance about what they need and how bad their pain is. They all list their allergies as: ASA, NSAIDS, Tylenol, Tramadol, Hydrocodone. So they need the hard stuff bc they are allergic to the soft stuff. AND they never improve. Bc IF BY CHANCE they improve, they get less pills. And they show up saying they are on a list of high dose narcotics and yet they are changing doctors constantly.

Over the last 15 years I've had to call the police to our practice and have dismissed patients dozens of times over opiates.

During the late 80's and throughout the 90's the AMA, at the request of big Pharma was sending out literature telling doctors they were being too cautious with opiates and to prescribe them more often for common aches and pains. Then during the 2000's (after the WV Ohio Kentucky lawsuits) they did a 180 and screamed "You are overprescribing!!!"

Bc tramadol (ultram) in high doses causes seizures and people will eat more of them chasing a high and more people will die or show up in the ER after seizures from tramadol.

Tramadol blocks pain very effectively, without the high. Don't tell me tramadol doesn't work, you just want the high.

Yeah....not supposed to do that. Seriously. Just like a pharmacy isn't allowed to let a doctors office know if someone is going to another doctor. Violates their pt privacy.

BS. It is so very much legal the DEA and FDA set up a pharmacy registry website where the provider and log in and see who what when and where regarding a patient and their prescriptions and the prescribers. Even the major insurance companies will show this information to the doctor through the provider portal.

I'm speaking of generalizations. Yes, of course there are some doctors that have abused their prescriptive authority. It was BIG time rampant just 7 years ago.

However, aside from these greedy pricks, the majority of those with prescriptive authority (MD, DO, NP, PA) have good intentions of healing patients and providing them a higher quality of life.

In your attempt to be the smart a-hole you're the one who came out looking like a fool - he doesn't need to know anything about HIPAA ( other than the fact that animals aren't covered) much less be an expert on it. Don't you understand that?
