I forbid mine to touch the thermostat because she firmly believes the lower she turns it the faster it cools the house

We have “smart” thermostats. It’s the equivalent of bear proof dumpsters. She knows it’s there, and that it works, but damn it to hell if she can figure out how to make it work for her.

I had locked covers on both the thermostats when the kids still lived at home. Last straw was coming home to the AC on 71 downstairs and the heater on 78 upstairs at the same time.

I tell mine for every five pounds she loses she can turn it down a degree from the default setting of 78.

My wife doesn’t. But when I go to bed I turn it to 68. Fan on as well. I like to have a reason to get under the covers. I cannot stand trying to sleep in a hot bedroom.
