No offense bro, but I'm a pro wrestling historian, I manage and work for numerous pro wrestling sites, I've worked in various capacities in this business, and Jericho is nowhere near the GOAT. He's not even even the Top 50 all-time worldwide. And yes, I can provide a list if necessary.
None taken and by all means do so. I don’t believe that there have been 50 better overall performers than Chris Jericho all time, worldwide.
Also, link your sites you work for...and keep in mind, there are other historians/journalists/wrestlers who say he is.
ETA: you know what happens when you insult Jericho?

Jericho is one of my all-time favorites, but no historians worth a salt would have Jericho anywhere near the top. As a performer and on the mic he's one of the greats; I'll give him that. But he lacks the drawing power and overall impact that many others had.

Jericho is an all around great performer but he never had the star power of Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, Austin, etc...

exactly - he's a great performer, no doubt. But his drawing power/overall impact lacks in comparison to numerous others.

I feel like you’re moving the goalposts a little bit, but with a quick wiki hit, and multiple sources disagree with you.
I’m glad you’re a fan of Jericho and I stand by my refuting of your statement that he is not Top 50, all time worldwide.

Jericho is fat and overweight
The same people praising Jericho probably hate WWE when they bring back legends because it "takes away screen time for the up and coming talent"

I'd like to see your list of 50. Because Jericho's career speaks for itself as an all-time great.

Goldberg-we’re citing Goldberg.
As far as Jericho not being a draw...his signing to AEW legitimized the entire promotion.
quote:
WWE declared Jericho a "marquee draw" with a "reputation as one of the best ever".[287][288] As of 2019, he is one of the ten most prolific pay-per-view performers in company history.[289]

And if he was in WWE burying guys like Brock has been doing(speaking of being fat) Id agree with you.
But he left, went to Japan & is line to put several younger stars over to a national audience during his run in AEW.
What bigger impact can one have?
People shitting on Jericho right now is hilarious.

Vince also says that John Cena is the biggest draw in company history. Get real.

My guy, you started your claim that Jericho isn’t Top 50 of all time, and you provide lists.
That no historian worth a damn would have him at the top.
You’ve moved the goalpost to “impact/draw”..
You’re attempting to argue from a position of authority, one that you probably deserve.
Other historians disagree with basically everything said.
By all means, provide a list of 50 greater wrestlers all time than Jericho.
Again I refute your claim that Jericho isn’t top 50. In fact I’ll say he’s way closer to #1 than he is #51.
people who disagree with you :
quote:
Journalist Chris Van Vliet noted that his name is "always thrown around as the GOAT [greatest of all time], or at least one of the GOATs", with Van Vliet himself asserting that Jericho is "if not the best, certainly one of the best".[266] Todd Martin of the Pro Wrestling Torch remarked, to agreement from editor Wade Keller, that Jericho is "one of the great wrestlers of all time" and in "a lofty category", while likening his oeuvre to those of WWE Hall of Famers Randy Savage, Ricky Steamboat, Ted DiBiase and Dory Funk Jr.[260] Praised for his ability to continually evolve his gimmick,[260][261][268] Jericho was dubbed by KC Joyner of ESPN as "wrestling's David Bowie".[261] Various outlets have included Jericho in lists of the greatest wrestlers ever.[b] Baltimore Sun reporter Kevin Eck, who has also served as editor of WCW Magazine and a WWE producer,[274] featured Jericho in his "Top 10 favorite wrestlers of all time"[275] and "Top 10 all-around performers"[276]—the former piece noting that Jericho is "regarded as one of the very best talkers in the business".[275] Keisha Hatchett in TV Guide wrote that Jericho "owns the mic with cerebral insults" and is set apart from peers by "his charismatic presence, which is highlighted by a laundry list of unforgettable catchphrases".[263] He was voted by Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON) readers as "Best on Interviews" for the 2000s decade,[277] coinciding with his 2010 induction into the WON Hall of Fame. Fans also named Jericho the greatest WWE Intercontinental Champion of all time in a 2013 WWE poll, affording him a landslide 63% victory over the other four contenders (Mr. Perfect, The Honky Tonk Man, Rick Rude and Pat Patterson).[278] A number of Jericho's industry colleagues have hailed him as one of the greatest wrestlers in history.[c] Stone Cold Steve Austin lauded his consistently "dynamic" promos and in-ring work, while arguing that he should be considered among the 10 best ever.[279] Kenny Omega asserted that Jericho "has a legit argument for being the best of all time", based on his ability to achieve success and notoriety across numerous territories.[268] Matt Striker pointed to Jericho's "magnanimous" nature as a contributing factor to his status as an all-time great;[282] his willingness to impart knowledge was commended by James Ellsworth, who described Jericho as an "outstanding human being" and a childhood favorite.[284] Kevin Owens stated that "Jericho was always someone I looked up to",[286] while The Miz affirmed that he was part of a generation of young wrestlers who sought to "emulate" Jericho.[282]
Is this a bit? Kayfabe? Trying to get on the list?

You're perfectly entitled to place Jericho near the top of your list, and I respect your opinion. I'm just saying, when it comes to true historians -- not just wrestlers or dirt sheet writers and the like -- he's not near the top. He's one of my all-time favorites, and I have him rated higher (at 83) than most others. For Steve Yohe's Project in 2013, in which top wrestling historians worldwide sent in their "Top 100" lists and a composite list was complied, Jericho ranked #243 all-time. Feel free to take a look for yourself.

If you have Jericho listed higher then give us your list. If you’re a wrestling historian why are you conceding to someone else’s subjective opinion. Which, if you’re basing the list you posted on drawing power it seems tremendously incorrect.

I think he has Jericho at 83.
Jerhico might have a full decades worth of work in him since that inflection point.
Mind you, The Lionheart had a 5 star match at age 47 with Kenny O.
What this really comes down to is a group of guys Pardigm respects has a different and according to the link criteria that is left to interpretation, in ranking these guys.
I’ll contend Jericho is as influential as anyone in the last 25 years.
Bill Goldberg for example can’t hold Jerhico’s jock.
He was bald with goatee and given an unattainable gimmick. After that, dude lived on that nonsense.

Also that list has Big Show ranked ahead of Jerhico among other ridiculous claims.
CM Punk is ranked 60 spots higher. In what universe?

Remember, that list is from 2013. I have adjusted my list since then, moving him to #83. I have much respect for all he's done and accomplished, but you really have to look closely at the others on the list and realize their significance. #83 all-time worldwide is no small feat. If you were talking specifically U.S., or even North America, he'd rank much higher.
You can make fun of the list all you want, and laugh that Big Show is higher and such, but the thing is, those lists were sent in from all over the world, with none of the voters knowing how the other voters voted. The men who voted in that poll know a heckuva lot more than you, or me.
