If it's just a typical 5 minute ride from one place to another why should I be expected to tip? You did exactly the service you signed up to provide.
Have you never taken a taxi before in your life before Uber?
It's always been known that you tip the taxi driver. So why wouldn't this be the case for Uber...esp when they are CHEAPER than a taxi?
Sorry you are a cheapass.

Uber doesn’t pay for the driver’s gas, so please tip at least a little bit.

Secondly, Uber already builds a 20% tip into the fare.
I know I'm late, but no. No they do not.

Because Uber originated as a tip-free alternative to taxis?
But yes, I usually tip, I'm just not that happy about it.

A while back I took one home. Wasn’t a long trip, but he was nice and his car was clean and smelled good. I was thankful he got my drunk arse home so I gave him $5.
Woke up the next morning and realized I didn’t have my keys. After searching the house I figured I had lost them or left them in the Uber. Five minutes later the guy pulls up at my house with my keys.

Uber also originated paying drivers 80% of the fair, which has since been dropped considerably

I just wish our culture charged what we expected for a service and left the ambiguity out of it...much like almost every other culture in the world.

I would much rather tip an Uber driver than a taxi driver.
