Awhile back there was an ADT salesman going around my neighborhood and it just got me thinking about whether or not they ever try to drum up business by... I don't know.. Paying someone to go break into a few cars or to do something to scare a few people so that they would want to better protect their homes..

Don't act like this is a crazy idea either.. I know an older dude who does landscaping, someone told me he got his start by going around and spraying weed kill in old women's yards and the next day when it had a big brown patch, he would go knock on their door and tell them he could fix it for them and end up getting their business.. So Its within reason to think home security companies would do something to scare people to make them want to get home security in their house.

ADT pays me to break into cars. I recently stole some nikes, could have gotten a pair of sunglasses but I passed on them.

Chaplin used a variation on this for a movie plot in 1920

Go frick yourself.

If I don't like threads started by a specific person I just don't read them. Try that.

I worked a telemarketing job for an alarm company for a few weeks in high school. I don't know about actually committing crimes but they would search the police blotter for the areas we were calling and would tell us to mention specific crimes that happened in their neighborhoods.

I just called my own number over and over until they eventually fired me for not making any appointments.

So you just went to work and kept dialing your number over and over?

I tried calling a few people on the first day but I hate telemarketers myself so I couldn't stand doing it.

yeah, telemarketers are the lowest form of life

they'll let anybody do it, the only skill required is to be annoying
