life---has been tough for me off/on again regarding my father. This weekend he was in the hospital briefly cause he fell and hit his head and kept feeling dizzy afterwards and even though he was discharged today..his mental illness keeps telling him he needs to go back cause something must be wrong. Even though all the labs and tests show that he was just really dehydrated and that's why he felt dizzy.

I'm in an angry at the world mode cause of it. I just wonder if he will ever be "normal" again.

love---Thankful for the love of God and my husband this weekend. God gives me the spiritual shoulder to lean on when times gets tough, my husband gives me the physical shoulder to lean on.

finances---Why can't I just win the lottery? Doesn't even need to be some massive jackpot. Just enough to buy my father some piece of mind. Home paid for, new vehicle he won't stress over. Someone to help him out with errands, etc.

I feel your pain.
I just try to be as strong as they were when I was being raised.

I just wish I could make him truly "get it". I have to remind myself that at times I'm wasting energy trying to rationalize with him. That at times it isn't my real dad, but some crazy person in his place.

It's just heartbreaking. And stressful beyond belief cause I feel like it is all on my shoulders to help them. My younger brother and sister are mentally challenged and my mom is a little "slow" with many things. So they don't always get the seriousness of things or how things work. My dad always took care of everything for them. I mean...my mom doesn't even drive(although I'm trying to get her to learn...don't even know if she can handle that but we will try). If something happens to my dad...it really will be all on my shoulders(with the help of my husband) to help them survive.

Doesn't help that I'm supposed to be as stress free as possible because I'm about to have more surgery this week for fertility stuff. But I'm not even allowed the luxury of taking proper care of myself when I'm constantly having to deal with my father.

Slow down some Nurse. The last thing you need is to put more on
your shoulders. Baby steps.

Can't really slow down. I've delayed the fertility stuff several times the past 2 years cause of helping my family since the flood or cause of various medical issues that keep stopping us. I'll be 41 in March.

It's either now or never for me.

My sister had her tubes untied at 45+ and had 2 wonderful children.
That was 25+ years ago, so as you know, med has progressed a little.

I only have like maybe a 30% to maybe 40% chance of IVF even working...so I'm just hoping for a healthy baby at this point.

I haven't even gotten to a point where my dr has deemed me ok to even do IVF. There is a slight chance I won't ever be a good candidate for IVF. At that point it is the end of the road and no I don't want to adopt.

nurse, I hate to hear that you have to deal with.

Without going into detail, I can relate to how you have to remind yourself that the person your dad is now isn't who your dad really is.

It's a situation with my mom where she isn't the mom she use to be. There are things that she doesn't remember, that you would think parents would never forget. And while you know it's not her fault it just kind of sucks.

But stress is so hard on the body and I really hope you can find your peace. They are lucky to have you. There are a lot of selfish people in this world who would not even bother doing what you do, but life always has away of working itself out, even if it's not exactly how you expect it.

I don’t have 20-50k to adopt. Don’t want to go through the emotional roller coaster either. My friend adopted. She said never again. She is grateful for her adopted daughter but she told me the process is absolute hell. Says it was almost worse than the two miscarriages she went though.

My husband has never wanted to adopt either. It’s stressful enough...both partners need to be 100% for it.

Also....I’m likely too old. Some agencies won’t even consider you if you are 40 or older.

Just tired of people telling me “why don’t you adopt?” Like it’s so freaking simple of a solution. Adoption is great if you want it....but it isn’t the solution to every infertile couple’s problems.

ETA: thanks slag

Could be right, not sure. The people I know are well off. Will see one soon, will ask.

Heyo Nursie.
If I can do ANYTHING to help you get knocked up, let me know when you’re back in town. Happy to help.

ETA: I am up for adoption at this time. Lemme know.
