Neither. We say, "the battery powered magic thing".

Makes my wife giggle. We go through a lot of batteries.

My wife gets off the sofa and turns the channel to what we want to watch either on UHF or VHF.

Clicker.
The one my Dad controlled went click when you pushed one of the 5 buttons.
My first remote had a slider that pointed to the line of channel numbers. It also had a cord ghat connected it to the television/record player combo that weighed 200 lbs and contained a 24 in screen. (Color)

Years ago, my kids called it the mote...and it's stuck with me. Where is the damn mote?

God gawd, I'm in my seventh decade of life and it's always been "remote" to me. My parents may have used the word clicker...

I used double sided Velcro to connect the Apple remote to the tv remove.

We call it megamote.

I remember when they 'clicked' to change the channel. My Uncle Claiborne had a big screen color TV with a 'clicker' remote, it had to cost a small fortune then. Must have been in the early 60's.
