Yes, since most of my friends here are not from here, there's always a get together and cookout at someone's house both over Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays for those that don't go home to visit family.

Will be attending such events this Friday and Saturday in Denver. Saturday's is at my LSU buddy's house and the game will most definitely be on.

The gf (no pics) and I will be spending time with her family on Thanksgiving day since she's actually from here.

seems like something millennials would do since they don't like their own family.

or because they live in cities other than the one in which they grew up. happens a lot when you live in big transplant cities like dallas, atlanta, etc. a lot of our friends, myself included, aren't from dallas so they have no family here. if you have a job like mine and can't take off days around the holidays, you choose to spend holidays with friends in similar circumstances.

fortunately both my family and my wife's parents lives here, but a lot of our friends aren't in the same boat. we will throw a friendsgiving so everyone can have fun and eat.

We used to do something like this for years, until our friends decided they didn't like us any more.

We would fry turkeys on Wednesday night for our Thursday tables, and have one for supper, and a few sides potluck. Lots of cigars and cheer.

Never have participated in one. However, our family holidays usually include friends that either pop in and have a drink or 3 or they hang for the day. Even as a kid I remember friends of my aunts and uncles hanging at Maw Maw's house. The more the merrier has always been the rule.

Why is it called Friendsgiving? It's not called Familygiving?
