Knew a guy like this in HS. Was in our friend group, really nice guy, but eventually people started realizing he was taking petty things from all of us.
He would do things like take a pack of gum out of my car then claim its his. Took my toothpaste once as well…like wtf.
It really boiled over when he nabbed someone’s wallet out of their pants while they were taking a shower. And when they went to confront him at his house, he was sitting in his living room on a wooden stool from the other guy’s living room
Its weird, because other than that he was a really cool guy. Athletic, smart, nice, chicks liked him, etc.

Do you know any true kleptomaniacs?
The other kid stole to be "cool" and to impress the other kids. He later had a drug problem. Not sure how he is doing now either.

He pulls up alone and hands the host dude the ring along with a book of cd's and some other random shite. Apologizes profusely and says his wife has a problem, they're getting counseling, etc.
Counseling starts with PIIHB because she embarrassed me again. Hell, I'd probably not take her to counseling and just return stuff each time with the guarantee of the action.

I am sure its similar to other addictions.. Maybe more comparable to gambling addiction. People with a gambling addiction do not gamble in hopes of winning, they are in it just to be in the action.. If they win, that only keeps them in the action longer.. So I am sure people who steal on a regular basis does it for the rush.. Or maybe its the idea of knowing they can go somewhere and take something at easy, but its a problem I am glad I don't have.

what happened to the true nymphomaniac thread?

Man, I had TWO motherfrickers like this in my group of friends at my high school. It was terrible. One of them never stole from me and in hindsight, I think he was acting out because he had kind of a rough home life.
One time the other one, who had been to my house and figured out where I kept some cash, skipped last period, went to my house while I was still in school, told my mom some bullshite about how he needed to come in to get something that he left over there and stole a few hundred dollars out of my room.
The worst part was this dude was kind of charismatic, so none of our friends would really accept that he straight up robbed me, and I had to continue to be around him a lot.
Dude went on to steal anything and everything he could get his hands on. He would steal stupid shite from a store and then give it away. He would raid people's medicine cabinets at parties, steal credit cards out of unattended wallets, anything, but he was so smooth that he never really faced any consequences for it. Drove me crazy.
So glad I've never had to be around that piece of shite again since High School.

Had a college roommate who stole things. Stole things from bars. Stole things from places where he worked. Would steal large things: things you'd need a pickup to carry off. Did it more than once. Big stuff, really. Loved to sneak into places he wasn't supposed to be in.
He and a buddy of his once donned t-shirts of a nationally known service club. They stood out at the 4-way stop on the outskirts of town for several hours and collected donations from drivers. They took a trip to Florida with the money. The only time I knew of that he almost got caught: he was at a fraternity house as an uninvited guest. He went upstairs, ostensibly to go to the bathroom. Got caught coming out of one of the rooms stealing some guy's gold necklace. He ran down the back stairs, barely escaping the house, being chased by several of the brothers.
He never really cared about "stuff", though. He was never ostentatious. Lived simply. He just did it for the thrill.

I really only have a couple black friends and I'm not close enough to them to know if they steal or not. They probably do though.

Went to high school with one.
He stole the vice principal's walkie talkie and would cut class to go use it, broadcasting "Coach Canon, I've got your walkie talkie." Every other admin had one, so that blared all across campus. He did that for nearly a month. It was funny as shite.
Our physics teacher remarked one day that he'd like to have a torque wrenxh in class. A few days later this beautiful wooden box shows up on his desk. Inside was a brand neq, chromed torque wrench. He was admiring it and sayong "thank you, thank you" and then his face turned sour and he says, "Charles, can I speak with you in the hall?"
Turned out, the torque wrench was stamped "Property US Navy." The bastard had stolen it off the Navy base,

I don't know is what causes it, but when bitches take Xanax, they turn in to kleptos, most of them anyway. Lowered inhibitions I suppose.
