Do you have a hard time disposing of plastic containers?

I'm not a hoarder... far from it. I throw out old clothes, old dishes, old furniture, old equipment, everything on a regular basis. I believe in countertop and floor space.

So why is my pantry full of plastic coffee cans and clever little plastic jars like this one?

After my giant rabbit papier mache project I have three more of those yellow Argo corn starch containers. I guess I keep waiting for the moment when I, the wife, or a friend will need to store something and I'll say "I have the perfect container for that!"

And, oh, by the way... f*** you haters in advance.

No.

I lift the lid on the trash can...deposit said container. Take it out for the garbage truck on Mondays and Thursdays.

Problem solved.

Feel less bad when they go into the recycling bin.

Twice a week pick up?

Trashy.

Only first class cities have once a week.

No.

I keep glass jars for the shop, they are great for holding random screws, bolts, washers, etc.

Plastic ones typically get recycled.

I think a large part of my condition is that I'm nearing 63 years old, and I remember a time when plastic products were nearly non-existent. Televisions, radios, just about everything was metal. I remember watching Mrs. Robinson tell young Ben Braddock in "The Graduate" to invest in the coming age of plastics. I am infected with memories.

I leave them at the beach, along with plastic six-pack rings and plastic shopping bags.

I was thinking that this morning. Here in BR I've got this big giant rolling trash container which I never fill up but we get twice a week pickup... and the neighborhood always looks littered with trash cans. I agree... trashy.

Plastic I have no problem disposing of. It's glass jars that I have a problem getting rid of. I think it's cause I use them for oil painting & juicing occasionally.

You know you don't have to take it out to the street if it's not full, right?

Empty OJ cartons like this

After a trip to Grand Isle this is what I would freeze my shrimp in. I couldn't have enough of them.

Come to think of it, I have a bunch of Amazon boxes of various sizes in the garage... waiting, I guess, for just the right use. Maybe I am a hoarder. And now I'm upset.

I keep a few that are shaped like stuff I'd need in the shop and a few that I put food in. People are always giving me leftovers, so I have a constant stream of containers. Threw away probably 75 of them a couple of months back because they took up too much space
