Do you ever think about what other people are going through?

Like the fact that while you’re living your regular life at any given moment, someone somewhere is having the worst moment of their life?
I just saw the aftermath of an accident that no one could survive and it made me feel grateful and kind of guilty for my very mundane day.

But also, someone is having the greatest moment of their life as well.

So it evens out. And I can go back to Law and Order guilt free.

Saw a traffic fatality earlier this year. That sight will put shite in perspective with a quickness.

It's called "empathy". Everyone should think of what other people are going through.

For people that are depressed, the act of constantly reminding oneself that even more fricked up shite is happening is not comforting.

Hopefully not the poop though.

I try to. Empathy seems to be a dying virtue. It's tough sometimes and it is easy to forget that my 1 minute interaction with somebody might not be indicative of who they are. I have bad days as well and I hope that I'm not judged by the 1 minute pissy interaction that I might have with somebody.

We will all have our most terrible days. When you are living around hundreds of thousands of people odds are somebody is having theirs every single day

I do. It’s hard.

My goal is to enjoy my good times and bitch when I need to...and not bitch at anybody.

My husband called this company the other day based off of their name appearing on the side of a vehicle. He reported to the secretary that the driver was swerving a lot over center lane and driving slowly. Honestly we were pissed and the driving was really bad for a stretch. The secretary reported that this older gentleman’s wife had just died. She did not know why he was in our area some miles away from the hq, but she said she was tracking him and going to call and check in. Afterwards we felt terrible. She seemed understanding and would do what she could to help out without costing him his job. We followed some more and he straightened out. Still feel bad.

Not as severe, but just today I was looking at a family photo of some somewhat close relatives.
Photo is of 2 Grandmas and 2 Granddads, mom and dad, and one baby in the background all sitting around eating a nice Christmas dinner with a nicely decorated table, all smiling.
All looked very content, almost a Norman Rockwell -like appearance.
Here is their current situation: Grandad 1 is 72 and needs a job, because the reverse mortgage isn't paying enough. Grandma 1 has never worked, although didn't have her one and only child til 40. The Mom can't hold a job down, right now working as some type assistant librarian. Dad was into trucking, but got some type of ticket and can only drive in another state, and is gone most weeks.
Other grandparents have long since kicked their son, the Dad, out of the house since he is basically a loser.
Babies are psycho. I could go on and on.

Anytime I feel like shite isn’t going right, I just think of the people who are living under a viaduct. The pitty party last but only a couple of minutes. No matter what, there is always someone living their worst part of their life.

I had a grim reminder along these lines recently. I was in a big traffic jam and could see the blue lights indicating a major accident. Cursing my luck.

The medivac helicopter landing I saw next made me reassess.
