My parents didn't, but I don't think $10 Chick-fil-A gift cards or some other place they frequent is a terrible idea.

yep, movie theater gift cards or restaurant gift cards for places you know they like. That's the way to go.

My daughter either makes something from photos or buys an inexpensive but thoughtful gift for her 3 core friends. I'm good with it.

Well she teaches primary school and she's not fcked up in the head so that's not a worry.

My parents bought presents for everyone in the neighborhood. They bought present for kids that were cousins of their grandchildren.
