Has wearing your seat belt ever prevented you from getting in a wreck?

Besides, one of the possible drawbacks of many of these type shots is the very small chance of contracting GBS and it's not something I'd ever wish on anyone.

FWIW, some studies suggest you're more likely to get GBS from the flu itself than from a flu shot.

GBS occurs like 3000-6000 cases a year, most people fully recover.
Flu/complications KILLS around 30-80k a year. Thats at least an entire order more deaths from flu than GBS infections.

not getting the flu shot because of GBS fear is like driving without a seatbelt because you are afraid that after crashing the seatbelt would give you a rash.

so what you're saying, if I get the Flu shot I wont get the Flu?

Certainly not, but It’s an added defense. Can lesson the severity of it, and also can prevent someone more vulnerable from catching it.

A seatbelt doesn’t guarantee survival, or injury for that matter, but it can lesson the effects

No, and that’s not why I wear a seatbelt.

It is amazing how anyone was able to survive back then without shooting up drugs in their veins.

So have you looked at all the ingredients that they are shooting up into your kids veins? Or you veins? Seems like a lot of hardcore druggies like to shoot up in their veins.

I haven't ever shoot up into my veins and haven't gotten the flu in 15+ straight years. What did we humans do about the flu before we started injecting shite into our veins?

Just wanted to point how much of an idiot you are with this post.

Vaccines are never injected into your veins moron. They are injected into the muscle.

Still not a chance I'm willing to take. When my stepson came down with it I was the one dealing with the day to day, actually hour to hour work of feeding, carrying him to and from the bathroom for baths and other bodily functions he could no longer do himself. It was a 24/7 ordeal for 5 months straight.

If I were to come down with that horrible illness, I'd have to be placed in a hospital and have 24 hour care at my home since nobody here can deal with the physical demands of caring for someone with GBS.

never heard of such a thing resulting from the flu vaccine. glad your stepson made it through that.

He was fortunate it didn't paralyze his diaphragm like it does for some patients and therefore needing to be put on a breathing apparatus to survive.

We managed to care for him at home with the exception of having numerous Dr. visits and runs to the hospital for treatments that helped him get over it.

You learn to respect the effort caregivers make when every venture out the house requires a wheelchair and physically picking up people in and out of the wheelchair to get in cars and such. It was an eye opening experience for all of us. I'm just grateful I was in good enough condition to physically do the things that needed to be done.

I dont.
Ever notice that with every passing year you hear that there are more and more strains of the flu, more difficult to get the right formula, and even if you got the shot, it won't be effective anymore toward the end of the flu season?

Guess you aren’t intelligent enough to understand that the flu virus is constantly changing (it’s the nature of the virus and nothing to do with the flu shot). So makes sense that something that has always and will always be constantly changing is a little more difficult to get a perfect match to protect against.

Science was a tough subject I’m guessing for you?

occasionally the formula for a given year's flu vaccine is associated with 1-2 more cases of GBS than normal per MILLION flu shots given. Its thought to be caused by another organism shortly after infection with flu or URI kinda deals.

Its rather rare and most people recover entirely.

Well, you guessed wrong. Quite intelligent, actually. Didn't say the flu shot itself was changing, how moronic was that assumption? Yes, the virus has always been mutating and changing, my point was it's at a greater rate of change than ever before. I can provide plenty of data on this subject if you so desire.
