I don’t understand why we don’t treat food stamps like WIC. People on food stamps should only be allowed to get beans, rice, milk, chicken leg quarters and so on. If they want something besides just the basics for survival, they can get a job and buy it themselves.

No wonder COVID ransacked a segment of society more than others.

When I worked at grocery store at 16. I never understood about food stamps until those trashy people would come in at the first of the month and load up 2 carts and I would have to bring them out and get no tip. Drove me crazy.

Louisiana gives like 40% of its citizens food stamps. It’s a damn shame we even pay taxes.

I don't call eating tons of junk food and stressing out about rent and major unexpected expenses living better. That pic is completely out of context and makes zero sense.

I knew a girl that was 18 with 3 kids that had 1400+ dollars on her EBT card.
She lived on section 8 with her mom and baby daddy that was the father to her 1st and 3rd child, but not the 2nd.

Actually no.
The types of people being discussed in this thread live sad, shortened lives devoid of purpose and meaning.
We are truly doing them a disservice.

I agree with this... I would love to go to work everyday but can’t because of a medical issue.... so me and the wife don’t work but lead a pretty normal life. We both worked for over 40 years so getting disability pay doesn’t bother me..... but when you see a women with 5 kids from 5 different daddy’s come up to the line with three buggies of stuff and it’s like $500 worth of food and she whips that card out, that’s one thing. But when it’s time to pay for the non food stuff she pulls out a roll of $100’s out of her bra to pay for that????? I get mad. Had enough time to follow her out of store and she was slamming those items into a brand new Navigator....... I was pissed.

While it's easy to loathe these people, they are a symptom.
People who don't take care of themselves often don't consider themselves worth being taken care of. They have low self-esteem, few aspirations, no goals, etc. They're unhappy, unfulfilled people.
So, while their buggy is full of Cheetos and ground beef for the pit bull chained in the backyard, they're definitely not living better.
We need to ask more of them. They'll be better for it.

Well put. Sad part is it seems that our current system is creating more of these types of people than it's helping.

I would say without jobs live better simply because of the stress a job can create.
