Do people who follow The News passionately believe they're part of it?

You know the ones, your grandparents who sit in recliners watching Fox News for 6 hours every day. The Politics board posters. The girl from high school who seems to be in pain on social media because of something happening with the SCOTUS.

Many of these people don't even vote, but in their minds they are very involved. They're practically part of the investigation!

Similar to the too-into-college-football folks who shed tears after a loss and stalk high schoolers on Facebook.

Are these people all delusional? Or are they simply being drawn into this trap set by the entertainment media?

How does it feel to consider yourself very involved and well informed in a simulacra?

It's this how you felons who have been excluded from the political process think?

That somehow understanding how you're life is being governed is pointless?

Only those protesting in the streets. It's entertainment for everyone else.

Round the clock news is the circus part of our government’s “bread and circuses.” I vote when the time comes, but I refuse to give the clowns in DC more attention.

This may be news to you, but sports and current events are actual hobbies for some people. Some people have more passion for their hobbies than others. Shocking isn’t it?

Are you passionate about anything? Cause I can assure you someone considers you as big an a-hole for your passion as you do these people for theirs.

I feel sorry for anyone who considers arguing about politics a "hobby"

My FIL is one of these people. Fox News for hours on end. Has probably given millions to frickbag politicians, Hoover Institute, etc... He thinks the politicians are his friends.

I follow events on the news to keep me informed of the issues. I do it because ultimately what happens at the top trickles down eventually and effects all of us. It can be either trickle down misery or trickle down happiness. Economic and political policy (good or bad) affects us all eventually. For example: the killing of babies through abortion eventually degrades the value of life for all of us. Massive increases in confiscatory taxes takes away spendable income that families need to buy basics and for a comfortable life.

Have a good day!
