Rather than asking here, why not just do it?

What could it hurt?

Would they ever do a universal ban on anyone hiring you?

I doubt it.

We don’t use them because when we did we always received really bad candidates. But I can definitely see the appeal. When posting jobs you can easily have 100 resumes get through the website filters; and you’ll find yourself rejecting 70% because their education/experience has nothing to do with the position you’re advertising. And all of our posting have some education/experience “must haves” that people lie and say they have. It’s just people mass applying to say they are looking.

If I could time warp back to my 20's, I would've taken a whole lot more risks. You think you have much to lose, but now is the time to make your mark on the world.

Still don't understand the 5k. Do not quit your job before you have another lined up if that's what you're thinking.

I trash the spam resumes that come on LinkedIn and work email. If they actually tailor it to the company/industry/my area,I give it a read.

I always laugh at the +350 applicants for a job that was posted 2 hours ago.

Had a guy drop by my office last week with his resume. Said he thought we looked like a good company to work for and thought he would take a shot.
He was nice, but I’m happy with our accountant. I stuck his resume in my desk in case she decides to leave.

Go for it man, there are many more paths to success than sitting at the same company for 30 years getting 3.5% raises every year

Absolutely! Most businesses are having a damn difficult time finding people to work. Also, the folks who typically do the hiring are often as old as we are, so don’t be afraid to send a paper resume and cover letter.

I agree with another poster about not understanding the $5,000.

I’m old school. Send out multiple resumes to hiring managers. If you don’t know who the hiring managers are, call and find out if unsuccessful on the internet.

Then follow up with phone calls. They won’t respond. Keep calling. Eventually they will pick up or call you back. Perseverance is a quality managers value.

Good luck.
