I've noticed all the screams of disrespect from players kneeling during the anthem and it makes me wonder if people actually know the flag rules. We cant enforce some and turn a blind eye to others. Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders have used the flag as a uniform which is against the flag rules. So is drapping the flag across a Budweiser can. So is carrying the flag onto the field horizontally. If we want to be technical, we shouldn't even be able to televise the anthem since all the cameramen should be at attention instead of searching the sidelines to see who isn't standing.

Well you don’t.

You can’t wear an actual flag. Or drape an actual flag around a beer can.

Your examples aren’t using actual flags to do what they’re doing.

It's not really the technical rules of the flag that causes the uproar.

It's the perception of what the players are doing and believe.

Judging from some of the shitty, faded, dirty, tattered flags I see flying, no, nobody knows any fricking flag rules.

Im not defending the actions of the players that are kneeling, im just curious if people know how often the flag is disrespected if we were to go by the actual flag rules.

the flag code is a stupid policy created in 1942 because they didnt want kids standing for the pledge/anthem resembling nazi youth (see the bellamy salute)

Yeah I get ya. The point is that most of those rules don't appear as disrespectful, they were probably made long ago anyway when culture was different. For example wearing the flag is now seen as national pride.

Well, there's no actual enforcement per se.

Didnt the NFL literally just enforce that the players have to stand if they are on the field when the anthem is played (which I agree with)?

Policies, etiquette and laws, baw. We ignore whatever we want. It starts at the top and trickles through to the bottom.

I'm talking law enforcement. Employers are free to enforce whatever flag code they like.

There's a difference between a private companies policy and enforcing a code.
