Yes. They don't actually watch their kid; they just document that they were there.

That's the thing. A lot of times the parents are trying to "create" moments so there are less authentic memories. When the kids take the field, the parents are yelling for them to wait a second, they want to get a picture, they are telling their kids to make sure they run out doing this or that.

When the kid comes up to bat, they first want a picture of him/her going to the plate, then one in their stance, then they video the kid hitting the ball. I see parents, at tball games for example, taking videos of their kid batting. The first several swings the kid hits the tee or completely misses the ball before finally hitting it.. Then they parents go back and edit the video.. I am always curious how they describe the video when they post it on facebook.

Worrying about shite like this is much worse than videoing your child.

I am getting tired of you stating the obvious all the time.

But the real thing we should be discussing is: why is there a thread pleading with parents to pay less attention to their kids? Aren't you getting a frustrated child abductor feel from this?

Astute observation

To be fair, in this case he may have a point. People are so caught up about taking pictures of EVERYTHING that it encroaches on their ability to just enjoy the occasion. Take a few pictures and then put the damn phone down and enjoy whatever the occasion is.

It depends. If they have one kid only then they will take pics all the time.

Once the second child is born, no more pics.
