My 2018 RAV4 has a CD player. I used it to play an audiobook I checked out at the public library. Other than that one time I haven't used it.

My 2016 Tahoe has an optical reader. I don't think I've ever used it. The vehicle doesn't get used much either.
But if you go in a Pilot or Luvs and buy a CD it's a lot more convenient to play it directly than have to have a laptop to rip it to a jump drive.
