I have a 20 something family member who got held back in 1st grade and ended up 4.0 at Tulane and has a six figure job right out of grad achool.....sorry to buck the trend....

I was held back with two of my friends in kindergarten and had no confidence problems as I moved on through school

My parents held me back while i was in Jr. High. I know it gave me another year to mature, and get in a better class. I know for athletics it helped me out to have that extra yr to mature. Academically, not sure there was ever any advantage. But I turned out pretty well.
