As to the topic. We get our own coffee at the office. Someone makes it every morning, then whoever uses the last of it replenishes it as the day goes on.

That sounds terrible. We have machines that grind and brew on demand. I'm a black coffee guy but the machines we have will churn out cappacino and machiato to your heart's content.

Not my fault you made a thread about being the office bitch. Pay your dues. We've all been there. No need to get hostile about it.

Wee have a machine that makes 3 of the big canisters. They last usually til about noon or so before they all need to be refilled. How much easier does it really get besides having a dedicated coffee bitch like OP?

No

I was asking if it actually happened, because I've never been asked to do it

Well you're just the boss from an early age. Lucky you. Don't let it go to your head.

We treat people with respect, so no, I've never seen interns become personal errand boys. They're there for a reason and it's not to fetch your coffee. I think people are a lot more independent and less formal now days.

Public accounting is a definite yes. I did it as an intern and we had interns do it for us. I've also had partners offer and bring my team coffees after they made us stay past 2am before so it goes both ways I suppose.

Yep can relate to this. I would go on coffee runs to Starbucks for the audit team. I actually didn't mind it because it got me out of the audit room and away for a short time. Nice break when you are working well past midnight every night.

I've had some over zealous interns that have brought it to me without asking before. I accepted and told them it's not their job but that I appreciated it

Sounds shitty. Too bad your office is too cheap to spring for a grind and brew on demand.

We had an intern on the rig that spent 30 min looking for a left handed broom. If he wouldn't have gone to the head driller he might have looked for it all night.

I wouldn't trust an intern to make me coffee.

You've got your interns that don't want to do shite.
You've got your interns who think that entry level work is beneath them.
Then you've got those prize interns that knock out the entry level work with a smile and ask for more. Those are the ones that get the real projects and that you put on your calendar to call when it's graduation time.

I have never seen an intern do this anywhere that I have worked...

back in the old days, we did have a lady around the office that did just this kind of shite, though...every morning she would make some muffins or buscuits and put that along with some coffee on a little cart. she would then walk slowly around the whole office checking with each individual to see what you wanted...never did figure out exactly what she did after breakfast time...

Not really seeing how you're in my head, but can you get me some coffee while you're there?
