Do I really need an outdoor TV for a covered patio?

I have a decent setup under my outdoor patio where I want to install a TV for game watching and entertaining but I've never had a TV outside. Do I absolutely need to pay 10x more for an outdoor TV or can I use a indoor TV for a covered area that's protected from sunlight, most wind, and rain?

I assume humidity and insects would still be a problem? Can I get away with an indoor TV or do I need to buy an expensive outdoor ones?

Cheap indoor. Replace when you have to. Some outdoor TVs dont hold up either. Spend 200 or 2 grand?

I've had a cheap TV outside under minimal eave cover with a cover over the TV when not in use for a couple of years with no issues yet.

If you're that worried about it breaking you can just take it down after you're done using it.

I have an indoor TV under mine and it doesn't have issues. It is on the smaller side though and I often move it inside when a storm is coming.

Nope, I get 5-6 years of outside use with regular, cheap flat screen TVS.

My uncle has one at his lake house. It's awesome to watch football outside while drinking beer and eating.

TV's are cheap now. Take the one from your living room and install it outside. Update living room TV to better model and or bigger size.

If outside TV goes out in a year or two, start process over.

I put an rca 55" under my covered patio 5 years ago. It's still going strong. Paid $500 for it. I'll replace with similar if it ever blows. Use it all the time.

I have a 10 year old 50" Samsung plasma in my garage right now that spent the last 4 years of it's life under a covered patio in my backyard. You'll be fine with a regular TV.

I have an indoor TV mounted to an outdoor fireplace. It was installed about 5 years ago. It was a cheap WalMart TV (Sanyo about $400) and has done well so far. I keep it covered with a canvas cover. For me, I’m glad I didn’t spend on the outdoor TV.

I have a regular tv outside and it’s doing fine. 3 years now. Bought a cheaper 65” instead of top of the line.

I have a DIY cabinet like this. Been fine for 2 years with the 10 year old Samsung in it. It's under a roof, so no rain can get to it. I assume the wood helps soak up some humidity. Never had bugs, wasp or spider problem. I also have a sound bar it it.
