Do any other states besides LA still use legal size (81/2 by 14) paper for legal filings?

I was talking to a a lawyer from out of state who has been practicing since the 1980s who said she had never once in her career filed anything on legal size paper. Damn. Is Louisiana the only state still doing this?

We charge by the page for filing here. There would likely be a revolt if they didn't allow legal paper

Mississippi used to but stopped in the 80s or so.
Some judges used to get so irritated with the lawyers who would refuse to comply that they would take the filing over to a paper cutter, set it on letter size, and cut off everything below the bottom of the letter size and then put the reduced pleading back into the file.

I prefer using legal size paper to file pleadings and transactional documents. The move to letter size paper seems to have started when federal courts started accepting faxed documents and the fax machines were not sophisticated enough to automatically adjust so they went with letter size as the uniform size. I don’t know if one size requires more paper than the other, but it sure seems like a lot more paper is used when using letter size.

Won't matter as everything is moving to electronic filing.
