DMV mailing licenses

went to the DMV to renew my license in Ohio, and after I was all done, they hand me a paper and tell me it's my temporary license, and the actual license will be mailed to me. I said seriously? they always give it to me right then and there
the guy said, yeah, for about 2 years now, they don't give you the renewal license, just a paper, and mail you the real thing

They have to install, sync up and test all the surveillance stuff on it now.

Just got mine renewed at the express dmv and they handed it to me there

I guess Louisiana is doing better than texas then. Took me almost 3 weeks to get mine.

In Georgia it's called the 'Secure ID'. You have to have birth certificate, proof of residency, Social security card, vial of blood, you know all the normal stuff.
The funny part about that is that they take all these 'secure' documents and scan them and send them somewhere, then they give you a paper license. How friggin secure is it to mail the license to you?!? Doesn't even really pass the smell test.

The RealID stuff has been in the process for years.
Here in Kentucky, I went and gave all of docs for the RealID the first time. Just renewed online and they mailed it to me within about a week.
