Earthships, baw. That's the prepper building of choice unless you're wealthy enough to buy an old nuke silo or just built an underground bunker in the Rockies.

This is a take on an old concept, the geodesic dome, first proposed by Buckminster Fuller.

The practical application generally involved plywood triangles that were then shingled, back in the day when shingles were cheaply priced relative to what they are now. Several were built around Lafayette back in the 70s.
