Why does someone have to suddenly have some arbitrary deep reason reason for liking something? What kind of answer are you even looking for?
Do you like a big arse? Do you like fuller tits? Do you like a certain hair color? I'm sure you have preferences all across your life - in women, hobbies, career choices, etc. I doubt you have some defined reason for every single preference.

Sometimes things just hit the right part of the brain for some people. I could say it's because I like strategy.... but you can also get that from playing chess. It could be competition, but you can get that from tennis. I could say it's the story, but reading also has better stories.
There isn't a clear answer, it's just one of those hobbies that strikes my brain the right way.

You're asking a question that doesn't really have any other answer.
They're fun to play IMO. Sports games let you play your favorite sports. Story driven games are more like movies nowadays. Online lets you play against other people around the world.

I'm never going to understand coin collecting, but hell if people enjoy it than that's all that matters. If it's a hobby you just don't get, there really isn't anything someone can say to make you get it.

I really don’t know what kinds of games are popular today. I haven’t played them since I was in high school. That’s why I’m asking. I’m genuinely curious what it is about playing these games that is appealing to adults.
