I use a Disney planner person (travel agent). They are paid by WDW and take care of all your dinner reservations and fast passes.
I would never wait more than 30-45 minutes for any ride ever. Your planner can get everything lined up for you and give you a detailed plan for best time mgmt.
Disney (for me) is the antithesis of the happiest place on Earth.
Only on off-peak (crowds and heat) times would I consider going.

Now is not the time to go Disney kids are getting out of school in florida and it's hot as hell
Yep. thats a deal breaker for me. We are going for food and wine fest first week in Nov, and I told my wife thats the one thing im not budging on due to weather.
if im paying what im paying, then my kids can miss 4 days of the 3rd grade for all of us being comfortable.
We went a few years ago to walk around downtown Disney while we were visiting some friends in July. At 10am the heat index was already 100 and we had to leave because we were drenched in sweat. I cant imagine going in the summer.

You got lucky because I was on line the second the FP's and available and there were none. Did you stay on property? I stayed off property, so I had to wait each day, 30 days out of each day to pick. If you stayed on property, you got to pick 30 days out from your check in date. So if you checked in Thursday, you could pick 33 days out.
Yeah we stayed at Pop Century. A friend of mine is a Disney agent, so she handled everything for us. We actually checked in Tuesday and left Sunday. We didnt even bother going back to Animal Kingdom Saturday night because of the lines.

What kills me is that we have cars, airplanes, boats, trains and other high speed methods of conveyeance, yet people will wait in line to be conveyed around a short track wih some animatronic characters dancing around dry ice vapor.

Do you even fast pass, bro?

Smartest travel decision I ever made was pulling my son out of school the early December for a week. Just go during a random week. If it's not STAR test week or whatever state test you have where you live it is worth it.
45 minute was the MAX wait time the whole week, so we wouldn't do it. Payed for fast passes and paid the extra for mickeys magic Christmas parade. That was the best parade I have ever seen. Every participant is a character and is engaged. Amazing that they do it every damned night.
Having now been to Disney, I cannot imagine the hell that must be involved in going during summer or Christmas break or spring break.
We were told by more than one staff member and waitress and a bartender that the first week or two in December is the PRIME time to go and not wait.

I have done they whole "plan yourself" WDW trip and it is a pain in the rear to get it right. Got a planner for our last trip and what a breeze. We had a 2 hour conversation with her on what we liked and she took care of the rest.
She made all our dinner reservations exactly 6 months out, with essentially perfect dinner times and she chose all the restaurants for us based off our conversation. Booked our fast passes when that window opened based off wait time trends/magical hours/dinner reservations. Provided us a bunch of insider information and agendas to follow.

Quit reading here. That attraction is brand new what did you expect.
45 minutes is about my cut off.
Is you use your fast passes correctly you shouldnt really have to wait for anything.
