pretty stupid no matter how good you are....just doesn't make sense to literally put your life in your hands.

Not everyone has a risk tolerance as low as you. Risk vs reward, without risk there is no reward and no adventure.

Is he being helicoptered in?

He's making the hike, and booking it back down.

One gust of unexpected wind, and he's eating some rock

wow....

I risk plenty, I'm just smart about it. I want to have many more adventures. You don't know me or my hobbies.

We may very well witness a man's death when this airs.

I've had a guy climb up on a ledge with me 600 or so feet up and he was ropeless. He even said, "boo!" I must have looked at him like he was a ghost. It was just a 5.9 though, and I don't think free solo is all that rare. Obviously doing the Rostrum or Astroman without ropes brings a level of difficulty that a 5.9 doesn't. Some people are good enough though.

key word it live. the broadcast capability of gopros wouldnt allow the feed to get to a station at the top of bottom of the mountain.

idk if the space jump was completely live but if it was it could be explained that the capsule had broadcast equipment to get the video feeds and his vitals to the ground.
