If it was a pet, i'd be fairly confident this info would certainly be released.
There would have been pet owners coming forward, and likely quoted in the article.

Not once is the word feral written in the article.
you think those traps were in people's backyards?

How do you want him to kill the cats? It's not like he's waterboarding the cats. My assumption (key word "assumption") is he traps the cats and throws the trap in the lake. Whilst a bit cruel, i wouldn't consider that "serial killer" vibes.

Yea, there are only so many ways to kill an animal. Which ways are acceptable to the people who are upset over this? I will say none.
Cat-lady Karen: "Oh, he was just shooting them? Ok, nevermind."

As humanely as possible, or don’t do it all. There are some truly fricked up people around here

Correct. Personally, i wouldn't drown them. Probably just shoot them. But i doubt a priest has guns lying around to do so.
Other option would be to trap then feed the cats poison. That's not any less cruel than drowning them, IMO.

Give us some examples that the type of person who is upset about this would find acceptable.

I'm no cat, but give me a bullet to the head or heart versus putting me in a cage and holding me under water.

Which would be how? What is an acceptable method of killing a cat, to you? You can't just say "as humanely as possible", without giving an example.
Is shooting the cats better???
March the cats up to the gallows?

I would just shoot them as well, but "Priest shoots cats" doesn't play any better at the Parish hall.

Use a pellet gun, 22 pistol. I see you’re another psychopath. Maybe let the priest hear your confession lol

Yes mfer shooting them is instant. Retard

I don't believe that priests own many guns, even small caliber or pellet. So if not a gun, then what?

You think someone should shoot a .22 in the middle of a neighborhood just to kill a feral cat? That opens up all kinds of other issues.

Again, i would shoot them. But i'm not a priest. I own a gun or 2. I don't believe guns are provided by the diocese. I could be wrong.

Then take them to an animal shelter. Are you really this stupid or being intentionally obtuse?

Priests can’t own guns? But they can own traps and drown animals?

As someone who watched his own dog die from poisoning, I can assure you its a horrific way to go. I've seen many animals die from many different causes, but I've never seen any animal die with the utter look of fear that the dog had in his eyes. Don't know how it compares to drowning, but whatever killed my dog was some bad stuff.
left a hell of an impression on me.

If you can't support your vague statements, then don't make them.
The fact is that he would be in this same situation regardless of the manner of his killing the cats, assuming they were feral cats.
Which is ridiculous.
