Supposedly that was his pickup line while at Georgetown. Heard that in some sports show many years ago.
I remember when that story first came out a lot of sensitive folks got mad. I didn't understand why, I personally like the approach. Just cut right to the chase this way directly asks for consent.

As a huge Sonics fan back in the day, I'll never forget this. I look back now, even before his death, and can smile b/c one of the nicest humans on the planet got to experience incredible happiness.
