You are correct. They are using unmarked cars. I haven't seen any in this area yet, however.

And of course the goal is public safety. How many people don't drive like idiots because they know could get a fine? Tons. Those people are deterred by the occasional marked, highly visible unit. These less conspicuous units target the demographic with the mentality of "out of sight, out of mind".

Know who could give a F about public safety (in general)? The guys writing the tickets. Just more hours on their check, to buy shite and feed their family.

It's pretty simple. Don't speed.

Or do what you want, but don't cry when you get a ticket or start a conspiracy theory how "the man" is out to get you.

They are doing it to stay unmarked on apps such as Waze.

Harsher fines and a points system like Europe would deter that type of driving, but it doesn't bring revenue.

State Police and other entities don't want speeders and potential income off the roads.

They could start writing tickets to left lane campers, but the fine is minimal there.

Just stop.

Police are funded almost entirely through TAXES.

Fine money goes mostly to the D. A. Hence why you can call and they will "reduce" it to a non moving violation if you just pay it.

Why are all the cars not unmarked?

They could pull the decals off tonight.

You're a special kind of stupid huh?

Not every unit is a tasked with speed enforcement or "traffic" violations.

Some of them *gasp* have to work CRASHES, where VISIBILITY is paramount because mouth breathers like yourself have a short between the steering wheel and seat and need enough lights, sirens, reflective vests, flares, cones, etc. to cause an epileptic seizure in order to safely navigate around road hazards.

would hate to force the government to commit the same infraction as me, but to a further degree.

You think the decals or 2MM candle watt beams of lights make them visible in those situations?

Because all of the unmarked cars have plenty of lights, Im sure the flares and vests are in the trunk...not sure why that matters in this case.

They are unmarked for revenue...not safety.

Unless you believe undercover police work is inherently safer than non-undercover.

Whats the rule on pulling over for unmarked cars? I only ask because the State Police have been very vague about answering that question.

The black square body Caprices the LSP used in the mid to late 80s was the most evil, hard to see cop car ever. They could hide in plain sight way too easy.

Uh highway patrols actually have less authority and responsibility than State Police do.

Highway patrols are self explanatory. They are by and large confined to working traffic on the interstate and state highways and that's it.

Here in Louisiana, the State Police not only does traffic on the interstate and state highways, they also do regular patrol in some areas like they're a city cop or sheriff's deputy, sometimes supplementing local law enforcement in small towns and big cities as well like New Orleans downtown where you will see a lot of State Troopers around the french quarter, convention area and so on. They also have a lot of other specialized units that you may not find with a highway patrol agency in other states.

State Police >>>>>>> Highway Patrol
