Pressurized Water Nuclear Reactors are safe and proven -- same used by USN and French.
The nuclear plants that have had issues have all been some other build type. If we could only approve and expiate and NRC do inspections on maintenance on a less rigorous schedule to reduce cost.
Ex -Nuclear Navy also--

Do you have any idea what a river pilot would charge to drive an aircraft carrier up the Brazos River to wherever they have the extension cord plug located?
Who you expect to pay that?

Overregulation.

The cost of generating solar power ranges from $36 to $44 per megawatt hour (MWh), the WNISR said, while onshore wind power comes in at $29–$56 per MWh. Nuclear energy costs between $112 and $189
The future is thorium reactors, a decade down the road. Also Micro reactors that are prefab will be the way we generate power 20 years from now. They are already being produced (not thorium)
