Or vice versa?

Absolute definition of tomfoolery.

I went by my middle name.

Me and my dad had the same first name so, i went by my middle name. Better than Junior.

Now, I go by my first name.

That’s understandable

It’s weird af seeing someone you knew as “John” for 20+ years suddenly become a “Tom”

Similar here. My grandfather, dad, myself, and my first son all have the same first name. My grandpa went by his middle name, my dad by Bob, and I go by Rob. Our son goes by his middle name.

My dad did that after he got a little money. I think he thought it made him sound more dignified.

I grew up with someone who changed last names. His folks were only common law married for most of his childhood, and may still be. He used mom's last name when he was in school. He changed to his dad's a few years after we graduated.

I go by my middle name. When I was in college, I tried to go by my first name because thats what all of my professors called me, but it was a big bowl of mind frickery, so I quit.

I remember playing ball in middle school with a guy who I didn't go to school with who went by his middle name and that was the only name I knew him by.

We show up at the same high school together and I say, "Hey 'middle name'" and he looks at me like I'm nuts bows up and says, "What did you call me? I'm 'first name' now!" We didn't hang out much after that. I think he actually moved schools rather quickly.

I actually know a couple of people like that. One of them tried to go with the first name after he became an attorney. I didn't "take" and he goes by his middle name now, for most purposes at least. Could be he still uses the first name in court, IDK.

Why would anyone go by their middle name?

If the parents wanted the kid to go by the middle name then why’d they put it in the middle? Just put the name you really want - first-
