I think the $2.7 million they got for the trademark was compensation enough, they would have never made that much if Kroc had never come along. Not to mention that $2.7 million was a lot of money in that time perio

In 1958 at the start of the year, the DJIA was trading at $439.27. Had they sunk 10% of their wealth into it, that 10% would be worth over a billion today (almost a 6000% return, and thats assuming they didnt set it to dividend reinvest). And they easily could have lived off the dividends. Unreal.
