Did anyone here get the chance to see Jimi Hendrix play live before he died?

I’m guessing not, since I feel like the crowd here is early 20’s-50’s, but did anyone’s parents get to see him? I’m watching old live performances of his on YouTube and I cannot imagine what it would be like to see and hear someone master an instrument like that in real time in front of me. I’ll hang up and listen off air. Thanks.

A more interesting question would be, has anyone here seen him live after he died?

I always thought it'd be a great idea if a company could invent a true 3d immersive technology where you could experience historical events as if you were there.
Like being in the crowd at a Hendrix concert, Super Bowl wins, even things like Pearl Harbor, 9/11, or on the front lines of battlefields.

Yep, Jimi played Shreveport.

How was that? Was it as good as I’m picturing in my head? And what year was it?

Yep, Jimi played Shreveport.
The story goes that on the long drive North from BR Jimi was afraid he wouldn't be allowed to eat at any of the Mom 'n Pop places on the highway

you cannot imagine what it would’ve been like to see him play? You are literally watching his performances on video. It would’ve been a lot like that.

I can play a couple of Hendrix tunes on guitar and I could simulate you seeing him in concert.
Are you offended when white people wear blackface make-up?

Saw him at Independence Hall in Baton Rouge. 1968 I think. Just an amazing performance.

I can do the show with no make-up but I will look very silly in the costume.

I can’t even imagine. I wish I could time travel for events like that.

My dad and his friends drove to Lake Charles some time in 1968-69 while he was in college (USL) and watched Hendrix open up for the Jackson 5. He said he played the Star Spangled Banner on his guitar and was something out of this world. He also said tickets were like $5.
Could you imagine watching a concert like that today for that kind of money?

My dad saw him at the Atlanta Pop Festival in 1970.

My dad worked a detail at a Hendrix concert in New Orleans. Wasn’t impressed and said Hendrix treated his audience like shite.
