Even with travel insurance, all the insurance I've been offered at the time of purchase also said it only pays if it is a mandatory evacuation.

All the insurance we ever looked at only required the storm to be a named storm.

So many pussies in here. Could you imagine all the hair salons if they had women cancelling their hair appointments because it was going to rain that day?

At one time this was just called thunderstorms coming in from the gulf. It's not even a hurricane. Everyone thinks they are entitled to perfect weather because it's their vacation. This country is so fricked up.

Card may reimburse you but every contract I’ve ever signed specifically said mandatory evacuation only

What a drama queen. You honoring your contractual obligations is not going to “force” you to bring your kids to the beach when there is a storm. You’d simply forfeit your deposit as laid out in your rental agreement.

Contractual obligations? LOL
What a bitch!

There is no service provided when a storm or other danger causes a change. I know exactly what he card issuer will side with. If you personally feel bad, send a f'ing check to a condo of your choice.

Other than that, NO frickING WAY I take my family on the road TOWARDS the danger of flooding and storm conditions.

Credit cards aren't meant to only protect the merchant, they protect consumers as well.

bullshite. Show me where you signed when giving a card over the phone for a deposit....show me your signature

Ok, now your learning. Interchange rates are higher on non swiped (non face to face, or keyed transactions) now your learning why. It's not binding when the merchant cannot produce a signature. It's a higher risk, hence the higher interchange.

Now combine that, with the product or service never being performed, and there is no way the issuer wont reverse the transaction.

So, just to help you and flip the script...please tell me what happens with your contracts you've signed IF you show up all the way in destin and the hotel has double booked your room, and has no other open room to offer you. Do they pay you the full "value: of your contract?

No

He's not being a drama queen. Nobody wants to take a vacation in crap like this. It wasn't that long ago that I remember hearing that some of the policies would allow you to cancel if a named storm was heading into the area.

LOL, the problem is that it very likely won't even affect the area. Your vacation likely won't be affected more than a couple of minor thunder storms rolling through.

How is there no service? You rented a room that is perfectly habitable. Renting a room is simply a place to sleep. Its no different than paying for a ticket to a sporting event. If you don't want to go because the weather is bad, that's your own fault. No one is making you go, but you are contractually obligated to pay.

ETA: If the hotel room had a cancellation option that costs more money, and you chose the no cancellation option. Yeah that's not going to be refunded.

It’s a pretty simple concept, they email me a contract and I sign then scan it and email it back
