Its not because of the “color of his skin”
I worked in the service industry throughout undergrad. There was a segment of the population that was going to stiff you on a tip. Both black and white. Most of the time you could tell pretty easily who they would be. These dumb fricks just guessed wrong and it happened they were black.

Public to his FB friends?
Did he solicit people to share it, what, 3k times?
Did he tag news outlets?
I don’t feel like pulling it back up
He literally says he wanted to make it public and is now demanding the restaurant dontate money to Cafe Reconcile..etc

Don’t let Lester steer the conversation towards wether this guy wanted it public or not. He’s going down this road because he’s trying to create the appearance he isn’t running away while avoiding every relevant question that has been brought up.

Hopefully it's the last. Nothing good will come from doing that.

getting fricked over by a restaurant because of the color of his skin was not something he was willing to go along with.
How did he get fricked over?
I can see if they added a 30% tip, that would be fricking them over, but adding 20% is normal and not fricking them over.
Did the restaurant over charge them for their food and drinks?

Auto gratuities aren't "fricking over." It's kinda common.

They actually saved him money based on his usual tipping

He’s just as much as a coward as Washington is except Washington isn’t afraid to live in Orleans Parish. Lester hides in Kenner and pretends he lives in Orleans.

How the frick is this news?! Who the frick cares?!
18 pages thus far on tOT in the second thread and you are asking who cares?
I think you should move on from "who cares" accept that a LOT of people do and work on the more salient issue of "why?".
On the internet, there is really no limit to the number of stories that are "reported" there disn't need to be the king of editorial decisions one had to make with newspapers that were limited on space due to economics and TV news reports that were limited by time.

They obviously knew him from previous dining experiences. I doubt this was his first time there.

By having 20% automatically added to his bill

but adding 20% is normal
Not according to other people in the restaurant that night

I agree with majority of you’re posts on this site, but I gotta call bullshite roger.
A tip or gratuity is extra.
They aren’t entitled to it.
Parties of 7 or more? I get it.
2 ?
That’s stealing.

Semantics Lester. He intended for this to get to as many people as possible. And it did.
Otherwise he just texts some friends and family.
What’s interesting to me is how an apology, most likely the firing of the employees(which should be done), and an offer to refund his meal was not enough.
Mr. Washington says it’s not his place to demand the firing of the employees because it is not his business, but he did demand a public apology(when he made all of this public), implicit bias training, and to work with Cafe Reconcile. If it’s not his business, why should he be demanding how they go forward? What if this is two stupid employees doing this? And as you say, not something that happens at other restaurants? Should we judge the entire business based on the actions of these two? Aren’t we trying to get away from judging the collective based on the few?
Maybe I’m biased as an employer that works tirelessly to treat all people with respect and dignity. Who sees this horrible event, and wishes our society didn’t immediately seek to tarnish a business when an employee does something stupid.
Maybe meet with the owner and see if he apologizes, is sincere, disciplines(fires in this instance) and offers to comp the meal. If the owner handles it well, accept the apology and move on. If he doesn’t apologize and discipline appropriately, then blast the world about it.
I think that’s reasonable, but society seeks to cancel everyone nowadays. We can do better.

There are places all over the nation who add auto gratuities. Usually for larger parties, over 6 but it's not uncommon for smaller groups.

Not fricking them over I guess, but you're basically taking their choice away.
Who knows, the guy may have given more than the 20%. I know I would have.
