I am old, but not old enough to have caught it in its initial run…

I'm older and did catch all the shows as new episodes, along with "Leave it to Beaver", "The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet", "The Andy Griffith Show", "The Dick van Dyke Show", "I Love Lucy" and many, many others.

TV back then was saturated with the above type "family friendly" sitcoms and plenty of westerns with a good bit of the prime time devoted to a lot of variety shows hosted by Perry Como, Andy Williams, Red Skelton, Jackie Gleason, Ed Sullivan, Lawrence Welk and others.

Even today, I find myself gravitating to watching some of those old shows over what they are putting on the airwaves now.

RIP to Jay North, the kid that brought the comic strip to life on TV.

No doubt.. i am Gen X, and i really enjoy the retro channels like Antenna TV and MeTV and that stuff, as well as what Tubi and Pluto offer .. but of course, the old stuff i remember from being a kid are the sitcoms that were popular from the late 1970s and in the 1980s.. shows like Taxi and Cheers and WKRP and the like , and most of them hold up pretty well.. and just lately I’ve revisited Eight is Enough and Six Million Dollar Man and the Incredible Hulk, Quincy ME and Miami Vice.. some of them i remember well, and some were a little bit before my time, but they are fun to watch in 2025, at least for me .

Too young for the show.

I remember the 90s movie with Walter Matthau.

Mr. Wilson is in his mid-50s here, looks at least 10-15 years older, and died of a cerebral hemorrhage at 55.

He was HUGE on Radio. All the Great Radio shows had him in various roles and sometimes announcing. Looks to me like he like to smoke and drink.

Almost mentioned this but didn't think anyone would care

He pops up constantly in OTR shows like Suspense & Escape. He stars in one of my favorite episodes, "The Man Who Liked Dickens", which both Rod Serling & Stephen King later ripped off ("Misery")
