Couldn't agree more. I wish this was how politics worked.

Right but all patients are equal and deserve the care of an MD. City folk are not any more important than country people.

7. Duh
10. Not equivalent
And the part about NPs being more likely to go to rural areas, I think there's stats saying currently a larger percentage of primary doctors practice in the rural areas than the percentage of NPs. Pretty sure I read that recently
So that would negate that point

Mhmm. You are stating a problem, but not giving a solution. I agree that MD care does not equal PA or NP care.

Well this bill would only affect NP's in primary care shortage areas.

The collaborative agreement allows a licensed independent provider to allow an NP to practice under his license at a level he's comfortable with with restrictions set in place by him on an individual level based on the NP and the amount of trust he has for the NP.
Wrong again... A practicing NP is under his/her license, not the collaborating physician. Hate to keep correcting you, but it seems you have some bad information.

Why do people think this stuff? Where are they getting this?
Posted on 5/24/16 at 9:34 pm to EmperorPenguin
That map tries to include like most of Louisiana.
Have you ever thought that legislation like this actually worsens the primary care doctor shortage by driving med students away from primary care ?!?

I don't think y'all get it what we are saying - we have serious legitimate concern that patients will preventably die of missed cancers and diseases due to lack of training and lack of understanding of some diseases without ANY supervision.
It's a set up for bad problems
Just like they have been doing in New Mexico? Oh never mind, that isn't happening...

Got outcome data?
The best the np "truth" video could say is --- we have good outcomes - our proof is a full waiting room and parking lot. That is not sufficient evidence

No, I'm not an NP. Sorry for telling you the truth. I'll let you think your own thoughts now.

You're a legislator...

How is this thread still going?

Guess i could ask you the same thing. You are the one claiming that this will result in terrible patient outcomes. Show me those results from the other 22 states that there is no collaborative agreement required.

The burden of providing evidence/data is on the parties attempting to change the law

They've yet to vote. It's tomorrow

I think the lack of training is evidence enough

Have no clue, but there is a lot of incorrect information out there that MDs have put out.

There's a lot of misinformation put out there by the LANP
