Sipping ice water may alleviate some, have to take a sip every 2-3 minutes. It equalizes the pressure for a short time.
Absolutely not. You are numbing it with the ice. Ice will numb it.. but when you stop…hooooooooooooooo boy. If it’s bad enough, and that mean thing wakes up from its slumber, it can be pisssed off.
I did that very thing one time to numb a tooth that i was going to have worked on. Cold water helped it. But when that lil thing got its feeling back, it put me in the fetal position for 10 to 15 minutes.
I’ve had broken bones, fractures, concussions, my hand sliced open needing stitches inside and on the surface, and a gall bladder attack caused by gall stones and none came close to that tooth waking up.
You could try going to an urgent clinic and trying to get something a lil stronger. But pounding ibuprofen or acetaminophen is not good for your liver at all.

I have discovered this pain.

Had a horrible tooth ache a couple of years ago that I had to endure for about 3 days while I waited on a root canal. Most sustained discomfort I’ve ever felt in my life. Nothing helped until I found a sinus pressure point that when I pressed it, it relieved the tooth pain. So I held my index finger on that spot for two days.
By the time I went into the procedure, I had a quarter sized bruise on my cheek. Probably not the wisest method of pain relief - but it got me though the living hell that is tooth pain.

I found that to be true for me as well. It’s was either on TD or another site were a dentist recommended 800 mg of Advil (ibuprofen) (4, 200 mg OTC) every 6 hours, and 1000 mg of acetaminophen=Tylenol (2, 500 mg OTC tablets), 3 hours after taking the 800 mg of ibuprofen, until one could see the dentist. Made the pain “manageable” as opposed to “intolerable”.
Made mine recede, but it was every 4 hours. Stuff is hard on the stomach, but it is an anti-inflammatory. I had to take it for weeks since I was moving back to NYC from Boston and the root canal specialist didn't want to do half the job.
Two dentists couldn't find what tooth it was, but gave me codeine and then Percocet which hardly blunted the pain. The specialist took a little tube of ice and put it on my teeth in the area one at a time until I jumped out of my skin.
Yeah, the Advil worked.

Dentist gave antibiotics and I’ve been pounding Tylenol & Ibuprofen, but nothing has helped so far
I have had similar issue before. Took a couple days but the anitbiotics got it under control but Dentist had me taking 3-4 ibuprofen and one tylenol like 3-4 times a day.

You still playing victim for not brushing your teeth?
No, just attempted murder by a local dentist. No big deal.

Try a little clove oil.
Yep, this is an old-school remedy to help with pain. There is an OTC with this
Ora-gel too.
BTW, not a dentist but I read never put aspirin on a toothache. Stuff is very acidic.
Don't use a cold ice pack but use warm packs on the affected area.

Aunt Polly would have you fixed faster than you could slam a door.

Best thing for a toothache is anbesol gel….be sure it contains 20% benzocaine.
There used to be some temporary tooth fillings that could be found at drugstores as well.
Another old trick is to bite on some wax to seal the tooth and keep air from hitting it.
