And when you remove the guns, they simply move to another tool. Which is why addressing the tool, and not the problem, is pointless.
Here lies the conundrum. Until politicians decide to fix this we will continue to have mass shootings. The first thing that needs to happen is to fix inner city violence.
Change the mindset of those in poverty with 1 parent homes that have no future. Ebonics needs to go. Cut welfare and force those that can work to get educated and work. Education reform.
Ban rap music that promotes violence and drugs. Teach these kids that they will never be an NBA/NFLstar and that they can be contribute to society and gain more by working. They don't know any better.
More programs for children could help this. Tear down ghettos or whatever to even the playing field. Gentrification but not sending them to rich neighborhoods. Improve their livelihood so that they feel equal to everyone else. The black community needs to step up and in order for that to happen they need leaders. That would solve that problem.
The kids that do all this crap have no direction. That needs to change. Letting a video game babysit kids is wrong. Parents that have nothing to do with their children should be held responsible. Social media shouldn't be banned but it should have some sort of thing to oversee the shite posted and block the crap.
The issues are too many. I don't know if we can fix this mess but going after firearms fixes nothing. We see all over the world that they turn to knives and whatever other tool is available.
We will always have nutcases. So no matter what we will deal with some sort of violence one way or another.
I don't know. I simply go about my life like this doesn't exist because in my life it doesn't. I'm not saying it can't happen to my life but I don't go through it wondering what if. I don't worry about my kids going through it either.
If 2 to 3 kids or adults did this every day of the week 365,with a death toll of 100s per week, I would think maybe we have a firearm problem. That's not the case. A rare occurrence is not enough for me to think about firearms being a problem. We have a drug problem and can't solve that or won't so until they change anything else, I say let it be.

The guns have always been here.

This plus domestic violence accounts for a large majority of "mass shooting" incidents (4 or more shot in one incident).
Yes but even if you filter for mass shootings incidents where the general public is targeted, we have far too many in a year while other developed nations have none.
Our first priority has to be stopping these because they put everyone at risk.

The Santa Fe High shooter killed 10 and wounded 13 more with just a pump shotgun and revolver.

Has there been any info on reason for shooting his own sister?
I read where after he left bar where he & sister went to together across the street and before shooting there was communication or at least attempted communication between the two.
Also I haven’t read up a lot of the US House bill dealing with background checks, but would it have flagged this guy since he had a list in high school or would that have even been known to the background system?
It seems unlikely the El Paso murderer would have been flagged as supposedly the mom had called the police just because he had one and even mentioned not seeing anything in behavior to worry about but just calling because of rifle.

Things get more complicated with juvenile records. A lot of that can be sealed due to the age of the individual involved.
Let alone the school may not have even made a written record of it.
No legislation has been introduced yet, but has been outlined by the Governor of Ohio.
