re: Daughter is getting tubes tomorrow

My son used to get ear infections about every month it seemed like. He would finish one antibiotic and the ear infection was back again. He got tubes put in a few days before he turned 3. The procedure was really quick. I don't really remember him freaking out or anything. I just remember laughing my butt off because he kept saying "momma, I saw Nemo and Dory, and I was swimming." He slept on the car ride home and when he woke up he was up and running around. I think it's more stressful for the parents than it is on the kids.

pretty simple procedure. seems like mine recovered pretty quick. and the earaches stopped almost immediately.
the toughest part was knowing my 6 month old was completely sedated and on an operating table.

I had them twice when I was little. First set got put in and everything was fine but they fell out very shortly after. They needed to put them back in before scar tissue formed but for some reason they couldn't use gas on me the second time (something to do with my asthma I think), so they had to put me in the papoose and put tubes back in with no gas. I still have a very faint memory of being strapped to that table.
Obviously my case was a pretty uncommon deal. Don't think OP has anything to worry about, very common and routine procedure - unless you're me

My daughter had two sets. There should be nothing to worry about.
Out of curiosity, why did she need multiple sets? I thought it was one and done.

In my experience, he grew and it fell off. After a little while he started having issues again so they recommended to put a new set in. Did that last week.

The recovery room is the worst. I could hear my daughter screaming and all I wanted to do was hold her, but they had to take everything off of her, and ensure that she was ok to transport. It was the most painful 5 minute wait I've ever been through. I just wanted to run back there and be like "give me my damn daughter."

All done now. Got back home around 8 was in and out. It was all easy peasy except for the recovery room. She was awake and not crying a whole lot but just seeing her so out of it was terrible.
Just loopy saying every word she knew, not making any sense. Then crying a little. It was a heart breaker. She is sleeping it off now.

Both of mine got them. Pretty quick procedure and recovery. But when the kid comes to for the first time, they'll be completely manic. It took a while to get both of ours to stop crying. It just takes time for the gas or anesthesia to wear off.
This.
I'll never forget them taking my first in to have it done all happy and waving. Made me feel like a such like such a jerk knowing what he was going to have done. That was 16 years ago wow they grow up quick.

Glad she did well.
you'll be surprised how fast she is up and running around.

To be honest, I don't remember exactly. There was a 2 or 3 year period of time between each set.

My daughter slept for a few hours when we got home and was crawling around that afternoon. She woke up pissed as a hornet though.
Anesthesia probably wore off.
We stayed overnight one night then went home the next day.
