man F this "bros before hoes" crap. When I was in college our group had one rule and that is do not hit on your friends girl friend or girl he is dating.
After that it was pretty much fair game. Unless it was a very serious relationship then we usually stayed away from the girl

Sounds like a lot of rationalization to me. He took you into his home. You're essentially saying you liked her the whole time and pissing on the history of your friendship. I hadn't seen my cousin in five years before last weekend and the second I saw them it was like time hadn't passed. You have years of a shared history.
There is a world of woman out there who aren't your friends ex. Go find them. Take distance from this woman. Don't sever one relationship to start another.
You are violating a sacred bond of friendship, trust and intimacy for your own selfish reasons. Don't dishonor your friend or yourself.
And if you think you love her, go ask permission. He has the right to tell you to frick off. But At least you ll be a man about it.

Family is a far cry from high school buddies. Apples and oranges.
