Dataphobes, are an annoying trend

Its been around since big brother is watching you, but that just meant the Gov. And has progressively increased...ie the Snowden movie.
More recently, media has been fearing peole about personal data, hacking, and all that other garbage. I have people at work with post-its over their webcams (even though it has a slider that they don't trust), and everyone is in fear that someone is out to "get their info".....as if any entity gives a flying frick about 1 person. They don't seem to understand that data is for trend analysis of groups of people and not for "spying" on any single dumbass.
Or am I the dumbass who just doesn't realize how close I am to giving up everything I own or ever want to be because I don't put:
1. Tape over my cell phone camera
2. Turn off phone and remove battery when talking about new ideas, personal details, medical issues.
3. Order anything online, ever
4. Etc
Germaphobes have progressed to dataphobes.

I’m a DBA and have worked in data analyrics for 20 years. I always put a bandaid over my laptop cameras...especially my work computer.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. It is very much reality.

You're the one that doesn't seem to understand. If you don't think your data is being mined by God knows who constantly, well, you're just retarded. Now, whether you care is a different story, but it's definitely happening.

The most effective form of brainwashing is the one that the subject doesn't know is happening.

Yes just like security cameras are "stalking" you are red lights, ATMs, the mall, around campus, etc.....yeah the shite is gathering "data" but no one gives a frick about you. You are no one special that would be targeted to "track" YOU. So much so that you have to take evasive actions.

Jeez, there's "satellites that can read the brand of golf ball from space so I wear a hat so that they dont track me between my trips from the bar to Circle K to buy Dip."

If it's "free" you're the product. Your information is sold daily by far more than you think. It's not a conspiracy or a secret. People mine data all the time. Happens on here too.

John McAffee gives a great interview on your privacy expectations. Worth the watch if you want to hear good info from someone who knows what’s up with data and online privacy.
John McAffee last week.

Give it time. The technology has outrun the ideas on how to use it. They will catch up.

Who in the frick said you have to be "special" to have their personal data stolen or collected? No one cares who you are. They only want your info.
And as far as hackers are concerned, everyone is a potential mark. Especially fricking morons. They're the easiest.

We should welcome data collection. If we knew all the shite people hid we would have figured out the cause of ueteran and throat cancer decades ago.
Full data gathering would give us actual insight into how people (as a whole) and traits that cause issues like unwed mother's , crime, etc.

You people..... every thing you people say could be said by germaphobes about germs..."you could you die from touching a door knob"
So I guess you all wash your hands 100 times per day because "you never know what virus you could have gotten by touching(visiting) that object (site)"
Why aren't you as afraid of food prepared by strangers as you are of a site prepared by a stranger? Twats
